Note that the area around the ostiole is peaked like a volcano and the fig fruit is very hairy. F. villosa figs also occur with a sunken ostiole and no hairs. From my limited current experience all F. villosa fig fruit with a peaked ostiole are male and all F. villosa fig fruits with a sunken ostiole are female. However this hypothesis needs to be confirmed by additional data.
