Fius satterthwaitei, Mushroom House 40, Crocker Range

Ficus satterthwaitei  figs growing on a small fig tree next to the Kota Kinabalu-Tambunan Road at c. 1,000 m asl. The patches of pristine mountain forest interspersed with swidden clearings at c. 1,000 m on the “wet” west western slopes of the Crocker Range are extremely rich in interesting figs, many of them endemic to Borneo. The location  is next to Mushroom House 40  owned  by a Kadazan-Dusun co-operative that grows shiitake straw mushrooms in sheds made of black netting by the roadside.
