Ficus pisocarpa, Kg Belingos, Temburong, Brunei

The Red-crowned Barbet is common in secondary forest at Temburong in Brunei but in the primary rainforest of the Temburong National Park it is replaced by the  Red-throated Barbet Megalaima mystacophanos.
Male Blue-eared Barbet Megalaima australis feeding on Ficus pisocarpa at Kg Belingos, Temburong. The Blue-eared barbet is the most common barbet in secondary lowland forest throughout Borneo.

Both the leaves and the fig fruit of Ficus pisocarpa are distinctive. The leaves have  impressed (sunken) veins on the upper surface. The ripe yellow orange  figs have a prominent rim around the ostiole- the hole at the base of the fig.
