Ficus inaequipetiolata, Leila Forest Reserve, Sandakan

The late Deewol Sindumin holding a wispy stem of Ficus inaequipetiolata in the Leila Forest Reserve on the hill behind Sandakan town.  F. inaequpetiolata is a small understorey shrub,  endemic to Borneo which prefers poor forest soil where the canopy is open. This is the narrow-leaf variety of F. inaequipetiolata. A broad-leaf variety grows in the same area.
