Ficus lawesii at Maliau Basin Study Center access road

This magnificent strangler is now  standing on its own, having killed it’s host tree. (The bushy epiphyte half way up the trunk is a Poikilospermum species). This particular fig tree is located at the top of the hill overlooking the junction with the main road running to Agathis camp when you are driving from from the Maliau study centre to the entrance gate.

View from the top of the hill showing the junction with the main road with runs to Agathis camp  on the right.
