Ficus pellucidopunctata, Kingfisher Trail, Sepilok, Sabah

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Kingfisher Trail at Sepilok starts at the Rainforest Discovery Centre  which is  rich in fig species . This fig is growing next to the pond which is directly underneath the Canopy Walkway at the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Gina Hamilton shows the scale.

Note the hairy stipule which is similar to the stipule of  Ficus subgelderii . However the leaf veins of F. subgelderii are more clearly marked  and the ostiole of the fig is only slightly open not wide open as with F. pellucidopunctata. All photos by Anthea Phillipps.
