Ficus deltoidea (yellow ring) hosted by a Dryobalanops lanceolata Dipterocarp next to the Belalong Canopy Walkway in Brunei.
There is some doubt about the longevity and survival rate of epiphytic and hemi-epiphytic figs which grow on the branches of some of Borneo’s tallest trees high up in the canopy. However this Ficus deltoidea shrub growing in an epiphytic sky garden was first photographed in December 2011. It was still healthy in December 2017- almost exactly 6 years later.
