Ficus caulocarpa, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

ABOVE: Changeable Lizard Calotes versicolor  resting on the hanging roots of  a giant Ficus caulocarpa fig  growing along Jalan Muara in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

Calotes versicolor is native to a huge area of Asia  from India to Sulawesi but not including Borneo. It is locally common in Bandar Seri Begawan, where it must have been released or escaped from captivity.

Jalan Muara in Bandar Seri Begawan,  Brunei was originally planted with  an avenue of beautiful Rain Trees Samea saman.  Rain trees are native to Central America,  however the  broad flat branches and rough bark of Rain Trees provides the ideal site for many Bornean epiphytes  to flourish, including figs.
This Ficus caulocarpa is now bigger then the host Rain Tree.
