In his Flora Malesiana treatment of Ficus, Berg & Corner (2005), Berg listed Ficus sandanakana as a new species of Ficus endemic to the Sandakan area. Berg’s description was based on two Leiden herbarium collections both illustrated in this article.
Berg was a superb botanist but in this rare instance he was incorrect and the two herbarium collections shown in this article are both Ficus inaequipetiolata.
