Ficus depressa  is monoecious  (bisexual) as are all the Section Conosycea figs. This means that  each fig contains 3  types of flowers. (1) Female flowers which have been pollinated by a fig wasp from another fig and which will produce a seed  (2) Female flowers in which a fig wasp has laid an egg which will hatch into a fig wasp and (3) Male flowers which produce pollen. In many fig species the male flowers  (stamens)  will be clustered around the  exit hole or  ostiole  seen upper left on this fig. In all  Section Conosycea figs the male stamens are mixed amongst  the female flowers.

Part of the the Ficus depressa liana has fallen to the ground next to this logging road in the Pinangah Forest Reserve and can be seen in the middle of this photo surrounded by upright Dillenia bushes.
