Ficus annulata is very variable and the figs may have a distinctive thick peduncle (fruit stalk) or no peduncle. Different plants may have persistent stipules or stipules which drop off. These different varieties may all grow in the same location as they do at the Rainforest Discovery Centre, at Sepilok in Sabah.
