Ficus montana var Purpurascens: Jurong Lake Garden, Singapore

Ficus montana var Purpurascens  is a spectacular  variety of Ficus montana which has been found growing  wild in Java and Thailand.

Although Ficus montana is common in Borneo, there are no wild records of this variety  with crimson leaves in Borneo.

The underside of the leaf  and the leaf stalks (petioles)  are a  deep crimson red whilst the upper leaf surface is a normal green colour.
