Ficus supperforata is a rare root climbing fig  endemic to Borneo and  confined to peat swamp forests in Sarawak and  Kalimantan.

According to Berg and Corner (2005)

” this fig resembles Ficus villosa from which it can be distinguished by the smaller number of lateral veins and the foveolate lower surface of the lamina”

A comparison of the undersurface of leaves of both species is shown below. Note that only the two Ficus villosa leaves are labelled below not the Ficus supperforata leaves. A foveolate surface is patterned with tiny depressions. Many root climbing figs in Borneo have leaves with a foveolate undersurface. In contrast the undersurface of Ficus villosa leaves are patterned with tiny white dots.
