Ficus densechini  is a rare Bornean endemic root climbing fig  with very large fig fruits originally discovered by Cedric Carr  in 1933 on Mt Kinabalu  in N. Borneo.

Carr was collecting for  E.J.H Corner a botanist working at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. See Corner’s original TYPE description here  Corner (1938) A Revision of Ficus Synoecea Climbing Figs

On Kinabalu  Ficus densechini is found in very wet hill forest on the western slopes. It was therefore a great surprise to find that F. densechini is a locally common root climber on tall forest trees growing on the seasonally dry  slopes of the Meratus mountains in South Kalimantan.
