Ficus heterophylla is a locally common rheophyte (river loving) fig along lowland rivers in Kalimantan but there are no records for Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah.
Ficus heterophylla is dioecious i.e. separate male and female plants and figs.
The photos show a male fig with female fig wasps emerging from their brood chambers (gall flowers) in the interior of the fig.
Many thanks to Labay Dapi for photos and information.
