Any plant that uses both sexual and asexual reproduction has a survival advantage over a plant that uses only one method of reproduction.
Two uncommon Bornean endemic fig lianas with very large fig fruits are believed to use both reproductive strategies .
These two fig species are Ficus carrii endemic to the mountains of Sabah and and Ficus grandiflora endemic to wet hill forest throughout Borneo.
