Any plant that uses both sexual  and asexual reproduction has a survival  advantage over  a plant that uses only one method of reproduction.

Two uncommon Bornean endemic fig lianas with very large fig fruits are believed to use both reproductive strategies .

These two fig species  are Ficus carrii endemic to  the mountains of Sabah and  and Ficus grandiflora endemic to wet hill forest throughout  Borneo.
