Pulau Kakaban, one of the Derawan Islands off the coast of East Kalimantan, is most famous for the saline jellyfish lake in the center of the island. Kakaban was originally a volcanic cone which sank beneath the sea. Coral growing around the rim of the volcano as the island sank, turned the ancient volcano into a circular atol with a lake in the center.
