Ficus stricta growing outside the upper entrance to the Sepilok Nature Resort at Sepilok near Sandakan, Sabah. There are quite a number of Ficus stricta trees planted around the resort and it is very likely that the original plants came from abroad as Ficus stricta is unknown in the wild in Borneo according to Bergs (2005) monograph.

Ficus stricta  is often confused with Ficus benjamina which grows both in the wild and as a very varied  ornamental in towns throughout Borneo. However F. stricta has on average larger leaves, larger fruit, and larger stipules than Ficus benjamina.
