Ficus pumila, Kinabalu Park HQ, Sabah

An early morning view of the summit of Kinabalu from Kinabalu Park HQ.  Kinabalu hosts both the richest plant plant flora in the world including the richest fig flora in the world  with many species which are endemic to Borneo.

These are the HQ administrative offices of Kinabalu Park. The offices include a herbarium including collections of most of Kinabalu’s fig species. However the most common fig growing  around the buildings and walls including the entrance pillars in the photo above is Ficus pumila an introduced fig from South China.  What a wasted opportunity  to showcase the local fig flora !
