Ficus sumatrana  at the Danau Girang Field Centre  in alluvial flood plain forest on the Kinabatangan river in Sabah. Timothy Chang  shows the scale.

The photo shows  Fig # 27  of 33 large figs surveyed  on 27 December 2016. This fig is located on the Kingfisher Trail at GPS N.05.41054, E 118.03802 degrees.

 

Ficus sumatrana. Dimensions 6 cm long excluding petiole (leaf stalk) and 4.3 cm wide.
A distinctive feature of  Ficus sumatrana  leaves shared with Ficus micocarpa  leaves  is that the basal veins (blue arrow)   lie within  the looped marginal veins (orange arrow)   that run around the edge of the entire leaf. Note that the tertiary venation above and below the basal vein on the  right hand side of the leaf is similar  and  does not differ between the two areas. Contrast this with the tertiary venation surrounding the basal veins of Ficus sundaica also growing at Danau Girang which differs above and below the basal veins.
