Ficus corneri: Kiudang, Brunei Darussalam

Ficus corneri growing as a liana collected in freshwater swamp forest at Kg Birau, Kiudang, Tutong District, Brunei. Photograph by Quentin Phillipps courtesy of Kew Herbarium.

Fresh leaves are a very distinctive pale grey below and dark glossy green above but in herbarium collections the leaves dry all pale grey to buff cream.

Ficus corneri is a member of a complex of 3 closely related  generally rare species including Ficus lowii and Ficus soepadmoi. The relationships need further investigation, and the current names may well be subject to change in the future.
