Spot Characters for Ficus stolonifera one of 10 earth figs found in Borneo

  • Leaf almost symmetric without any auricle  at the base of the leaf.
  • Leaf is glaborous (smooth and shiny)  above and entire (without a toothed edge)
  • The drip tip is normal not extended into a long tail as with most earth figs.
  • The fig is  small, roundish and soft with only a few tiny isolated  hairy bracts on the surface of the fig..
  • The fig ripens green to white to pink.

These photos were taken as part of a project entitled Ethnobotany and ethnotaxonomy of Moraceae in Sarawak supported by the National Parks Board of Singapore.
