Ficus punctata a liana which produces the world’s largest fig fruit is common at Tawau Hills Park.
The figs provide food for gibbons which feed during the day and musang (civets) which arrive at night.
The figs are much too large for hornbills to swallow but they will sometimes peck pieces of flesh from soft ripe fruit.
