Ficus bracteata is a rare mystery fig that is easily confused with Ficus consociata.

Note that the figs  of Ficus consociata are hairless and smooth  whilst the figs of Ficus bracteata are hairy and surrounded by very large bracts and persistent stipules.

The most obvious feature is that Ficus bracteata figs have a sunken area surrounding the ostiole.

Thanks to Tim Hatch and Peter Boyce of Rescuing Borneo  for photos and information.
