Ficus natalensis subspecies leprieurii is an introduced ornamental fig of African origin which is occasionally cultivated in Borneo.
This fig is easily mistaken for Ficus deltoidea an epiphytic Malesian fig which is frequently cultivated in Borneo for medicinal and ornamental purposes.
However Ficus deltoidea always has black glands on the rear of the leaf which are missing in Ficus natalensis.
See the (incorrect) name plate below photographed on 22 September 2014.
The late Dewol Sundaling shows the scale.
Note that there are no black glands on the rear of the leaf. This means that this fig is not Ficus deltoidea.
This name plate is incorrect. The fig is in fact Ficus natalensis.
