Ear-spot Squirrel Calliosciurus adamsi is an uncommon Borneo endemic squirrel with a restricted distribution in N W Borneo.

Ear-spot Squirrel is very similar to the very common Plantain Squirrel Calliosciurus notatus which is found in degraded forest and open countryside  throughout Borneo.

Both species are illustrated next to each other below. In general the belly  of Plantain Squirrel is distinctly reddish whilst the belly of Ear-spot Squirrel is only very slightly reddish or greyish buff.

The ecological differences between the two species are as yet unknown.
