This playful gibbon gibbon family Hylobates funereus at Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah are surrounded by food.
Behind the gibbon are the ripe red figs of Ficus trichocarpa.
The red leaves on the right are the young leaves of a Spatholobus vine. There are 16 species of Spatholobus lianas in Borneo. Spatholobus are members of the bean family Fabaceae/ Leguminosae and both the leaves and unripe seed pods provide a fall back food to many Bornean mammals including langurs, gibbons, orangutans and macaques.
