Ficus pellucidopunctata has some very distinctive features which makes it relatively easy to distinguish from other  strangling figs in Borneo.

Look for the following features

  1. The figs are  distinctly oblong rather than round.
  2. The figs ripen pale yellow or pale pink.
  3. The figs have an open NOT closed ostiole (hole at the far end of the fig)
  4.  Close up, the leaves are covered in multiple tiny translucent dots  especially when  backlit from behind. This is the origin of the scientific name .
