Ficus pellucidopunctata has some very distinctive features which makes it relatively easy to distinguish from other strangling figs in Borneo.
Look for the following features
- The figs are distinctly oblong rather than round.
- The figs ripen pale yellow or pale pink.
- The figs have an open NOT closed ostiole (hole at the far end of the fig)
- Close up, the leaves are covered in multiple tiny translucent dots especially when backlit from behind. This is the origin of the scientific name .
