Ficus ruginervia fruiting next to the road that leads to the Kalimantan (Indonesia) border post at Ba’Kelalan in the Bario Highlands of North Eastern Sarawak.

Based on the size of the ripe figs Ficus ruginervia is most likely dispersed by primates and civets.

However dark ripe figs remain uneaten on the plant indicating that the local primates and civets have been hunted out.
