Based on observations and camera trap records this individual Ficus cucurbitina located on the roadside about 8 km from the Deramakot HQ is the most productive and wildlife friendly fig in Borneo.
The photos below show the results of camera trapping during a two week fruiting episode in July 2024. Note that only the primates that visited the fruiting fig tree are shown below and these included four individual orangutans. Other primate visitors were Red Langur, North Borneo Gibbon and Pig-tailed Macaques.
Not shown below are photographs of other visitors including Bornean Palm Civet, Binturong, Prevost’s Squirrel, Horsetail Squirrel, Yellow-throated Marten and Rhino Hornbill.
