Ficus deltoidea, the Pinnacles, Gng Mulu, Sarawak

Gunung Mulu National Park in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo is extremely rich  in interesting plants and animals including  a large variety of  rare figs.

In contrast Ficus deltoidea a small fig  shrub is probably the most common fig in Borneo but is rarely seen by botanists  because it usually occurs  as an epiphyte high in the forest canopy.

Fortunately the trekking route to the summit of Gunung Mulu uses  an old rhinoceros trail which follows the ridge line

This gives Mulu climbers an opportunity to view the rich Mulu forest from above  at canopy level, including this example of Ficus deltoidea.
