Ficus virgata growing as a small tree in a forest clearing near Kg Payung Payung on Pulau Maratua in East Kalimantan. Pulau Maratua is a coral atoll and the rocky soil is largely uncultivated. Note that this identification is provisional. There is only one previous record of Ficus virgata for Borneo from an unknown location. However F. virgata is one of the most common figs on small islands from Sulawesi and the Philippines east to the Solomon Islands in the Pacific ocean.
