Ficus laevis is an uncommon, root climbing fig which produces a round fig fruit up to the size of a cherry which ripens green. The leaves have very distinctive long stalks (petioles)  which allowed us to identify this young F. laevis growing up a tree trunk at c. 1,000m in the Crocker Range. The location was just below Mushroom shed 40 next to the Kota Kinabalu-Tambunan Road  that crosses the  Crocker Range.
