Ficus padana photographed by Eka Siswyati at Tapanuli in N Sumatra. Ficus padana is not found in Borneo where the nearest relative appears to be Ficus bruneiensis.
Ficus bruneiensis is endemic to Borneo whereas Ficus padana is endemic to Sumatra and Java. Both species are found in disturbed forest as small to medium sized domed trees with large leaves and hairy figs. The most likely dispersers are probably civets and previously rhinos.
