Ficus obscura growing on oil palm at Pangkalan Bun Central Kalimantan.

Ficus obscura is very closely related to Ficus scaberrima but the twigs and figs are covered in stiff hairs. The distribution of these two species overlaps and they appear to hybridize. In general Ficus scaberrima is most common in NW Borneo but is replaced by Ficus obscura in the rest of Borneo.
