Ficus tinctoria var hutan is the only Bornean fig in Section Sycidium capable of growing as a giant forest strangler with multiple drop down roots.
This was only discovered when we learnt that it was possible to recognize the very distinctive fallen red brown leaves clearly outlined with creamy white veins.
This individual grows next to the Tabin river boardwalk at the Tabin Wildlife Resort.
