Ficus magnoliifolia discovered by the team at the Sabah Ficus Germplasm Center at Tabin in Sabah.
Photo shows Ronald from the SFGC standing next to one of the Ficus magnoliifolia trees.
This is the second record for Sabah and the 5th for Borneo. Thanks to Dr Zainal Zahari Zainuddin of the SFGC for the information and photos.
The only other record of Ficus magnoliifolia for Sabah is this individual listed in the Sandakan Herbarium (SAN) database. A collection was made by James Ah Wing at Kretam on the banks of the Kinabatangan river on 21 January 1963.
Note that although there is a thin layer of white latex bearing cells under the bark most of the exudate is watery and yellow.
